Surabaya KAI Cancels Three Train Journeys Due to Bekasi Incident
Surabaya (ANTARA) - PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya has cancelled three train journeys on Tuesday (28/4), as a consequence of an operational incident that occurred at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night.
The Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Mahendro Trang Bawono, stated that the cancellation policy is part of efforts to support the handling of the incident and ensure that journey safety remains maintained.
“We convey our apologies for the cancellation of train journeys on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. This decision was taken considering aspects of safety and journey security,” said Mahendro in Surabaya on Tuesday.
KAI conveys empathy and deep sorrow to the victims and families affected by the incident, and hopes that the handling process runs smoothly and all victims receive the best possible care.
As a form of responsibility to customers, he continued, KAI ensures full (100 percent) ticket fare refunds excluding booking fees for affected passengers. The cancellation process can be done through the Access by KAI application or at station counters.
The company will continue to provide updates on train journey operations through official channels, including Contact Center 121 and WhatsApp services.
