Surabaya Immigration Completes 43,998 Hajj Pilgrims' Departures for 2026, Kloter 116 as Final Batch
KANTOR Imigrasi Kelas I Khusus TPI Surabaya officially completed the entire series of departure processes for the Hajj pilgrims at Embarkation Surabaya for the year 1447 H/2026. This certainty was marked by the departure of Kloter 116 as the last flight group from Juanda International Airport on Thursday (21 May).
From operational data, total pilgrims and officers that departed from 22 April to 21 May 2026 reached 43,998 people. The figure comprises 43,535 prospective Hajj pilgrims and 463 Hajj officers, spread across 116 kloter.
One of the key factors for smooth operations this year was the optimization of the Makkah Route service at Juanda International Airport. This facility enables pilgrims to complete all Saudi immigration checks before take-off from Indonesia. Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims do not queue at local immigration counters and can proceed directly to buses or pre-arranged accommodation.
The final kloter was released by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa at the Sukolilo Hajj Dormitory in Surabaya. The Governor’s presence signified the end of Embarkation Surabaya’s operating period as one of the largest embarkations in Indonesia.
Head of Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Khusus TPI Surabaya, Agus Winarto, stressed that the success resulted from intensive coordination with the Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH), the Ministry of Religious Affairs, airport operator, and airline partners.
“Surabaya Immigration is committed to fast, precise, and professional service. The implementation of the Makkah Route this year is an important element in facilitating and accelerating services. We are grateful that all stages ran orderly,” said Agus.
While prioritising speedy service, security and document oversight remain priorities.
Head of the Place of Examination of Immigration (TPI) Surabaya, Kholilur Rohman, explained that personnel on the ground have been fully on standby to verify the validity of all pilgrims’ documents.
“Through intensive coordination and personnel readiness, immigration services can be delivered effectively without diminishing oversight and security,” Kholilur said.
This step aligns with the directives of the Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, who emphasised the importance of adaptive, humane, and responsive service under the spirit ‘Immigration for the People’ in safeguarding the national strategic agenda. (H-2)

Operational arrangements for the departure of the Embarkation Surabaya pilgrims entered day 14 with 17,835 pilgrims and officers having departed for the Holy Land.
