Surabaya Debarkation Officially Begins Return of 2026 Hajj Pilgrims, 1,897 Arrive by Group 5
The repatriation process for Hajj pilgrims at the Surabaya Debarkation for the year 1447 H/2026 M has officially begun at the Surabaya Class I Hajj Dormitory. As of the fifth flight group (kloter), the total number of pilgrims and officials who have arrived at the Surabaya Debarkation has reached 1,897 people.
“They consist of 1,861 pilgrims from East Java, 10 Regional Hajj Officers (PHD), 6 Hajj and Umrah Guidance Officers (PIH KBIHU), and 20 group officials. Alhamdulillah, everything is running smoothly, and we are prepared for the subsequent arrivals,” said the Chairman of the Surabaya Debarkation Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH), Mohammad As’adul Anam, in Surabaya on Wednesday (2/6).
A total of 44,000 pilgrims and officials are planned to return via the Surabaya Debarkation. This figure includes 43,237 pilgrims, 160 Regional Hajj Officers (PHD), 140 Hajj and Umrah Guidance Officers (PIH KBIHU), and 463 officials distributed across 116 flight groups.
According to Anam, the repatriation operations at the Surabaya Class I Hajj Dormitory proceeded smoothly on the first day, supported by all service elements. “All officers are continuously striving to provide optimal service, from arrival at the airport to the reception of pilgrims at the Surabaya Class I Hajj Dormitory, ensuring pilgrims can return to their respective regions safely, comfortably, and healthily,” he stated.
Regarding flight punctuality, three groups arrived on time, while two groups experienced delays. The Surabaya Debarkation PPIH continues to coordinate with airlines, airport authorities, and all service providers to ensure the smooth repatriation process.
During the operations up to Group 5, three departures were recorded: one pilgrim passed away in Saudi Arabia, and two pilgrims remain under medical treatment in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the number of empty seats (open seats) during this initial phase of repatriation was recorded at three.
The Surabaya Debarkation PPIH also noted that two pilgrims have not yet been able to return with their groups due to ongoing medical treatment in Saudi Arabia, namely Abdul Djalal (67) from Probolinggo Regency in Group 1, treated at Al-Noor Hospital, and Mohammad Dzikri Muiz (65) from Probolinggo Regency in Group 4, treated at Jeddah Hospital.
“We continue to monitor the condition of pilgrims still receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia through coordination with health officers and Indonesian Hajj representatives. We hope all pilgrims undergoing treatment are granted swift recovery and can return to the Homeland in good health,” said Mohammad As’adul Anam.
Based on the report from the Surabaya Debarkation Hajj Organising Committee as of 1 June 2026, 1,897 pilgrims and officials have arrived in the country through the first five flight groups, representing approximately 4 per cent of the total planned arrivals via the Surabaya Debarkation.
