Surabaya City Government Strengthens Investment Climate Through AI-Based Digital Innovation
In an effort to strengthen the investment climate in the city while making it easier for business actors, the Surabaya City Government has introduced an Investment Clinic, one of which is through digital innovation, namely implementing an artificial intelligence (AI)-based integration system. The system enables real-time monitoring from the workspace.
“How many permits have been submitted and completed, everything is monitored. We also provide an Investment Clinic that assists investors, from calculating the Break Even Point to estimating the duration of construction. This assessment is part of the stages of the 2026 Investment Service Award (ALI),” explained Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi on Sunday (23/08/2026).
He further explained that the use of AI also makes it easier for applicants to track permit documents directly via smartphones. This convenience was built to provide legal certainty and transparency for business actors who wish to or will invest in the City of Surabaya.
“When there is certainty and no costs outside the provisions, investor trust will be built. As a result, investment moves and Surabaya’s economy grows,” he said.
Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi stated that this year the Surabaya City Government is targeting investment realisation of Rp43 trillion, an increase from the previous Rp35 trillion to Rp36 trillion. “Of course, the innovations we are making will support the investment target set this year,” he said.
Director of Business Implementation Cooperation at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM Hasyim Daeng Barang explained that his team’s arrival was aimed at conducting a field verification of the presentation previously delivered by Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi.
“We are here together with the Deputy Chairperson of Kadin to check whether the facilities and services presented are in accordance with the data on the ground. The assessment focuses on two main aspects, namely the performance of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) and the Acceleration of Business Implementation (PPB),” he said.
