Surabaya bulls relieved at last
SURABAYA: Three young women waiting for a bus sprinted as if in danger when a group of party supporters jumped out of a truck, opened their zippers and briskly walked toward them.
"Hey, don't be afraid, we only want to drain the dragon into the gutter," said one of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) supporters who were urgently needing to relieve themselves after hours of strenuous street rallying.
As curious bystanders were wondering what happened, more jubilant party supporters leaped out of their trucks, vans and motorcycles and joined the lineup of "peeing bulls" along the open gutter in front of the state TVRI station, Antara said.
Many of them clutched, with the other hand, the party flag -- an image of an angry bull head in a red circle -- while chatting and joking before they ran back onto the vehicles.
"Long live the bull! Long live PDI Perjuangan!" the usual chorus resumed with great relief aboard the truck.
