Surabaya Becomes Industrial Engine, Energy Exhibition Drives Regional Economic Growth
The growth of manufacturing and logistics activities in various regional areas is beginning to form new industrial centres in Indonesia. Along with this, the demand for energy, industrial utilities, and production technology is also increasing in line with the dynamics of these industrial areas. Capturing this change, the Indonesia Energy & Engineering (IEE) Series 2026 is expanding its industrial platform by presenting Indonesia Energy Week Surabaya, which will be held from 15–18 July 2026 at Grand City Convention & Exhibition Surabaya.
This expansion is part of the IEE Series strategy to strengthen the national network while serving as a meeting place for energy and manufacturing industry players in the regional area. Surabaya emerges as a strategic choice in line with its increasingly important role in the national industrial map.
Together with Gresik and Sidoarjo, this area has long been known as one of the largest manufacturing corridors in Indonesia after Jabodetabek. Processing industry activities in this region make East Java one of the main contributors to the national economy, with a contribution of around 15 percent to the national gross domestic product (GDP)—the second largest after Jakarta.
Surabaya’s industrial rhythm is also reflected in its logistics activities. From manufacturing areas in Gresik and Sidoarjo to distribution at Tanjung Perak Port, this city becomes a hub for the movement of raw materials, industrial equipment, to energy components that flow to various regions in Eastern Indonesia. Tanjung Perak Port, which handles more than 3.6 million TEUs of containers every year, is one of the most important industrial distribution gateways in Indonesia.
As these industrial activities expand, the need for reliable and efficient energy systems and electricity networks becomes increasingly crucial to support productivity and sustainability in the industrial sector.
In this context, Indonesia Energy Week Surabaya comes as an extension of the IEE Series 2026. Its organisation will take place alongside two long-standing industrial exhibitions in Surabaya, namely Manufacturing Surabaya and Growtech Indonesia, which serve as important platforms for the manufacturing industry and agricultural technology in Eastern Indonesia.
After more than 20 years known as one of the largest manufacturing exhibitions targeting Eastern Indonesia, Manufacturing Surabaya is once again presenting machine technology, automation, and modern production solutions for industry players.
The presence of Indonesia Energy Week Surabaya in this ecosystem brings a new dimension, namely connecting energy, electricity, and utilities needs with the developed manufacturing and agricultural activities in this area.
Hanung Hanindito, Deputy Event Director of Pamerindo Indonesia, explained that the organisation of Indonesia Energy Week Surabaya is an expansion step to reach a broader industrial ecosystem within the IEE Series.
“The IEE Series is built as a unified industrial marketplace. In areas like East Java that have a strong manufacturing and logistics base, the need for energy, electricity, and industrial utilities becomes increasingly important. Therefore, presenting Indonesia Energy Week Surabaya together with exhibitions like Manufacturing Surabaya and Growtech Indonesia creates a complementary exhibition ecosystem, where production technology, energy needs, to industrial utility solutions can meet in one platform,” said Hanung in a statement on Friday (10/4/2026).
