Surabaya-Bali route cut due to floods

SURABAYA: Floods and landslides hit Bondowoso regency in East Java, which caused a bridge in Tenggarang subdistrict here to collapse, cutting the road between Surabaya and Bali.

But, despite the collapse of the bridge, the travelers could still pass on the streets, as they could still take alternative routes.

The bridge collapsed as heavy rain pounded the area on Wednesday night.

The collapsed bridge has caused severe traffic jams in Tenggaran area and other nearby areas such as Bataan and Tamanan subdistricts.

The authorities said that the bridge will be repaired immediately. -- JP
