Supreme Court's ruling
Supreme Court's ruling
From Bisnis Indonesia
The Supreme Court ruling to exonerate Akbar Tandjung is just a plagiarized, humorous piece by Srimulat, one of the country's famous groups of comedians. However, it falls flat as a joke.
Unfortunately, ordinary citizens can do nothing about this. They can only pray that this ruling will pave the way for Akbar Tandjung to win the presidential race later this year so that Indonesia can become a full-fledged land of clowns.
It seems our reform movement, which has claimed several lives, has now left its proper track. It is only proper that we have become a laughing stock for our neighboring countries in matters ranging from logging, marine sand or the signing of an agreement on the extradition of fugitives.
When will Indonesians come to their senses and stand up to become a respectable nation in the world?
Perhaps it is worth quoting now what I usually say to foreigners when they wonder why Indonesia is in such a sorry state: "Sorry, that's my lovely Indonesia. Anything possible can be impossible and vice versa. Anything can be arranged to your wishes."
