Supreme Court Rejects Appeal, Judge Djuyamto to Serve 12 Years in Cooking Oil Bribery Case

The Supreme Court has rejected the cassation appeal filed by Djuyamto, a judge convicted of accepting bribes in connection with a controversial acquittal in a cooking oil corruption case. His sentence of 12 years’ imprisonment remains in effect.

In addition to Djuyamto, the Supreme Court also rejected the appeals of two other judges, Agam Syarief Baharuddin and Ali Muhtarom, who were members of the panel that issued the release verdict for a corporation in the cooking oil case. Their sentences of 11 years’ imprisonment, a fine of Rp 500 million, and restitution payments of Rp 6.4 billion were also upheld.

Djuyamto had previously seen his sentence increased by the Jakarta High Court from 11 to 12 years. The appellate court also ordered him to pay a fine of Rp 500 million and restitution amounting to Rp 9.2 billion, with a provision for an additional five years of imprisonment if the restitution is not paid.
