Supreme Court Rejects Appeal from Former Ngada Police Chief AKBP Fajar in Child Sexual Abuse Case, Upholds 19-Year Sentence
JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) has rejected the cassation petition from former Ngada Police Chief AKBP Fajar Widyadharma Lukman Sumaatmaja in the case of sexual violence against three minors. “Reject the cassation from the public prosecutor and the defendant,” as quoted from the official MA website on Friday (17/4/2026). The panel of Supreme Court judges has upheld the verdict from the previous instance, and Fajar remains sentenced to 19 years in prison. “Imprisonment for 19 years,” the decision’s ruling states. In its decision, the MA also upheld the court’s order for Fajar to pay restitution to the three victims. The total restitution to be paid is Rp 359,162,000, broken down as follows: Rp 34,645,000 for child victim IBS; Rp 159,416,000 for child victim MAN; and Rp 165,101,000 for child victim WAF. Meanwhile, the MA also rejected the cassation for the other defendant, Stefani Heidi Doko Rehi alias Fani. This university student at one of the higher education institutions in Kupang city remains sentenced to 11 years in prison for facilitating the children to be abused by Fajar. The arrests followed a report from Australian authorities who discovered indecent videos involving minors on one pornographic site. The Kupang District Court panel of judges stated that Fajar was proven guilty of violating Article 81 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code, as well as Article 45 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (1) of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law in conjunction with Article 64 of the Criminal Code. Fajar was sentenced to 19 years in prison with a fine of Rp 6 billion, subsidiary 1 year and 4 months in prison. He was also ordered to pay restitution of Rp 359 million to the three victims. During the trial, it was proven that Fajar had a habit of watching blue films featuring minors since 2010.
