Supreme Court Inaugurates 11 Supreme Court Justices and 3 Ad Hoc Judges

The Supreme Court (MA) has officially expanded its ranks by inaugurating and swearing in 11 Supreme Court Justices and three ad hoc judges on Wednesday (2/9). The inauguration was conducted to meet the judicial requirements across several chambers within the Supreme Court.

The inauguration and swearing-in ceremony were led by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sunarto, in the Kusumah Atmadja Room at the Supreme Court Building, Jakarta. The appointments were made based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 91/P of 2026, signed on 31 August 2026.

During the proceedings, the justices took an oath to perform their duties professionally, independently, and in accordance with statutory regulations. “I swear to fulfil my obligations as a Supreme Court Justice to the best and fairest of my ability,” was part of the oath recited by the judges during the ceremony.

The inauguration follows the decision by Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) to approve the names of Supreme Court and ad hoc judge candidates who passed the fit and proper test on 13 August 2026.

Four Supreme Court Justices have been assigned to the Criminal Chamber: Syamsul Arief, Sugiyanto, Sudharmawatiningsih, and Dhifla Wiyani. Meanwhile, the Civil Chamber will be staffed by two justices, Sobandi and Nurnaningsih.

Two additional justices have been appointed to the Religious Chamber, namely Musthofa and Mamat Ruhimat. Furthermore, three justices have been assigned to the Special Tax Administrative Court Chamber: Maftuh Effendi, Hari Sih Advianto, and Yeheskula Minggus Tiranda.

In addition to the Supreme Court Justices, Sunarto also administered the oath to three ad hoc judges. Sudiyo was inaugurated as an ad hoc judge for Corruption Crimes, while Edwin Partogi Pasaribu and Roki Panjaitan were appointed as ad hoc judges for Human Rights.
