Supreme Court clarifies

With reference to the news item published in The Jakarta Post on July 20, titled Eight Supreme Court officials take oaths, it is written in the seventh paragraph: "Mariana will assist ... etc., and was elected despite her controversial 2000 track record, when she allegedly accepted a huge bribe from a Jakarta developer. She has denied the allegation".

Hereby I would like to clarify as follows: * that I, Mariana Sutadi-Nasution, have never been contacted or asked for confirmation on the "graft issue" mentioned above. I, therefore, am deeply concerned about that statement, which not only defames my name but also tarnishes the reputation of the judicial institution. * that, for the sake of balanced and objective reporting, I would appreciate immediate correction and clarification of the news.

MARIANNA SUTADI, Deputy Head, Supreme Court, Judicial Department, Jakarta

Note: Thank you for your comments. The matter will be clarifed shortly. We regret any inconvenience.
