The Supreme Court (MA) has accepted an apology from the Judicial Commission (KY) regarding an error in the release of data on alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for Judges (KEPPH). The controversy arose after the KY published figures for Semester I 2026, which were later revealed to be cases handled in 2025, before a policy on judicial salary increases took effect.

Yanto, Chairman of the MA’s Supervisory Chamber and MA Spokesperson, stated that the matter has been resolved after the KY Chairman publicly issued a correction and apology. “The KY Chairman has corrected the press release regarding the latest KEPPH report data and has apologised to the public and the Indonesian Judges Association (IKAHI),” Yanto said. He added, “As Chairman of IKAHI and as an Indonesian, I certainly accept the apology.”

Yanto further explained that the MA accepts the apology in good faith, as the KY leadership acknowledged the mistake in disseminating the information. He emphasised that the data in question was not from 2026 but from 2025, a period before the current commissioners took office. “It is clear that the data was from 2025, not 2026, and it was from the previous commission’s term,” he noted.

He also clarified that approximately 75 percent of the reports involved procedural law issues rather than serious ethical violations. “If it is a procedural error, the remedy is not a sanction but a legal effort to correct it,” Yanto explained. He declined to provide further technical details on the corrected data, directing such inquiries to the KY as the source of the information. Yanto concluded that since the KY had institutionally corrected the record and apologised, the MA saw no need to issue an additional official statement on the matter.
