Supporting tourism, Banten launches Serang-Badui bus route for Rp1 via QRIS
Serang (ANTARA) - The Banten Provincial Government, together with the Bank Indonesia (BI) Banten Representative Office and Perum Damri, has officially launched a special Badui cultural tourism bus service for Rp1 with QRIS tap payment method.
Banten Governor Andra Soni, in Serang on Sunday, stated that this breakthrough is the government’s response to the high public interest in visiting the Badui adat area. Through this collaboration, the public can enjoy a highly affordable promotional fare.
“Thanks to the support from BI Banten and Perum Damri, we are launching QRIS tap for the Badui cultural tourism transport from Serang to Ciboleger. For the next month, the public only needs to pay Rp1 using QRIS,” said Andra after the QRIS tap launch for the Badui cultural tourism transport mode at Serang City Square, Banten.
The utilisation of this digital payment system is supported by the high penetration of QRIS users in the region. Andra noted that out of 60 million QRIS users nationwide, 3 million come from Banten.
This figure is considered proportionally significant relative to the population and will continue to be optimised to spur regional economic growth.
“Tourism is a flagship sector that continues to be developed and is expected to become the engine of economic growth. By facilitating digital payments, we are optimistic that tourist visits to Banten will increase and drive the economy,” said Ameriza.
He added that in the future, BI together with Damri is ready to expand tourism service routes to other destinations, one of which is the route to the Sawarna Beach area. In addition, accessibility is expected not to rely solely on Serang City, but can be extended from the Tangerang area, which is seen to have a very large tourist market potential.
The Rp1 promotional fare period applies from 26 April to 31 May 2026, and the QRIS tap scanner machine inside the bus is ensured to accept payments from all digital banking applications.
After the promotional period ends, the public will be charged a subsidised fare of Rp25,000, which applies equally on weekdays and weekends.
