Supporting the Reshuffle of National Nutrition Agency Leadership, PSI: Free Nutritious Meals Must Be Managed More Professionally and Accountably
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has declared its full support for President Prablant Subianto’s move to refresh and reshuffle the leadership within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). This step is considered strategic to ensure that the government’s flagship programme reaches its intended targets.
This support follows the President’s decision to remove Dadan Hindayana from his position as Head of the BGN on Tuesday night. Alongside Dadan, two Deputy Heads of the BGN, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Lodewijk Pusung and Inspector General (Ret.) Sony Sonjaya, have also been officially dismissed from their posts.
The Vice Chairperson of the PSI Board of Trustees, Grace Natalie, emphasised that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme is a crucial breakthrough for the nation’s future. However, she highlighted that the success of this grand vision depends heavily on the management of the agency in charge.
“We believe that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme is an excellent and strategic breakthrough for the future of the nation. However, this grand vision will only have an optimal impact if it is managed more professionally and accountably,” Grace stated in her remarks on Wednesday.
Grace added that the new leadership at the BGN bears a heavy responsibility, particularly in building stricter monitoring and evaluation systems. This is necessary to ensure that the allocated state budget provides real and sustainable benefits to the community.
“The new leaders must be able to oversee the MBG programme solidly, supported by competent monitoring and evaluation systems, so that the programme does not merely run, but truly provides real benefits to the people,” she added.
Furthermore, PSI views this leadership change as evidence that President Prabowo is a leader who is accommodative to public aspirations. This decisive step demonstrates the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of national programmes.
“The MBG is a noble programme. Criticism and suggestions must be heard and acted upon if they are valid. The President sets an example in that regard,” Grace asserted.
As a replacement, President Prabowo has appointed Nanik S. Deyang, who previously served as Deputy Head of the BGN, to ascend to the position of Head of the BGN. To strengthen the oversight aspect, the Deputy Head positions are now filled by two new figures. The appointment of Agustina Arumsari, from the BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency), is seen as an effort to strengthen financial governance and prevent potential irregularities within the institution.
This move demonstrates the government’s seriousness in ensuring that this national strategic programme operates optimally and continues to undergo improvements.
Members of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) have also weighed in, with Commission IX member Irma Suryani Chaniago noting that the leadership change is a natural step to strengthen the effectiveness of the MBG implementation. Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX, Yahya Zaini, urged the National Nutrition Agency to prioritise the improvement of the programme’s execution domestically.
