BPJS Kesehatan is continuing to strengthen the governance of the JKN Programme to meet increasingly complex healthcare service challenges. One of the efforts undertaken is reinforcing the role of the Quality and Cost Control Team (TKMKB), which was the focus of the TKMKB National Working Meeting in 2026.

BPJS Kesehatan President Director Prihati Pujowaskito stated on Thursday, 11 June 2026, that the JKN Programme not only acts as a guarantor of healthcare financing but is also an instrument of social justice that ensures all citizens obtain access to proper, quality, and sustainable healthcare services.

“As of 1 June 2026, there are more than 285.4 million JKN participants. Additionally, BPJS Kesehatan has partnered with 23,682 First-Level Health Facilities (FKTP) and 3,221 hospitals and main clinics across Indonesia. Within this large and complex JKN ecosystem, TKMKB holds a very strategic position. TKMKB is one of the controlling pillars that keeps the JKN Programme on the right track, namely maintaining service quality, efficient financing, and ensuring participants’ interests remain the top priority,” said Pujo.

According to Pujo, the challenges of administering health insurance will become increasingly complex in the future, in line with rising public expectations for healthcare quality, advancements in health technology, and changes in disease patterns. Therefore, TKMKB is required not only to evaluate services that have been delivered but also to provide systemic, data-based recommendations oriented towards continuous quality improvement.

“Through the theme ‘Safeguarding Quality, Ensuring JKN Sustainability’, we want to ensure all elements of TKMKB move with a shared vision to maintain healthcare service quality while ensuring the sustainability of the JKN Programme. This forum serves as a space to unify perceptions, strengthen coordination, and ensure every recommendation produced can be implemented consistently across all regions of Indonesia,” Pujo said.

Pujo added that TKMKB plays a role in bridging clinical and financing perspectives to ensure service quality, cost efficiency, and the sustainability of the JKN Programme. He noted that the existence of TKMKB is important to ensure healthcare services are provided rationally, according to medical needs, based on professional standards, while still considering the effective use of Social Security Funds.
