PT PLN (Persero) has established a strategic partnership with PT Starone Mitra Telekomunikasi (BDx Data Centres) for the development of electrical infrastructure with a total capacity of 1.2 gigawatts (GW). This project is designed to support Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based data centre hubs and digital services in Indonesia, reflecting PLN’s commitment to fostering the national data centre industry through reliable and sustainable electricity supply.

The support includes providing 788 MVA of power for the CGK4 site in Jatiluhur, West Java, during the initial phase. This will be followed by capacity reinforcement of 60 MVA for the CGK3A site in South Jakarta and the development of high-voltage networks of 385 MVA for the CGK5 site in Suryacipta, West Java.

Agus Hartono Wijaya, CEO of BDx Indonesia, expressed his appreciation to PLN for its optimal service in supporting the operational reliability of data centre infrastructure, which requires high-performance computing capabilities. During the signing of the Electricity Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) at PLN Headquarters on Tuesday, he noted that PLN’s infrastructure readiness provides the certainty needed for BDx to expand its data centre capacity sustainably in Indonesia. “Through this collaboration, we can build resilient infrastructure ready to support AI needs, while meeting long-term demand from hyperscaler companies and sovereign digital workloads,” added Agus.

Adi Priyanto, PLN’s Director of Retail and Commerce, emphasised PLN’s readiness to support the growth of the data centre industry, particularly those driven by AI, as national digital transformation accelerates. He stated that the energy needs of the data centre sector require power that is not only large in capacity but also stable and reliable. “We understand that energy certainty is the heart of this digital infrastructure. Therefore, PLN is ready to ensure BDX Indonesia can expand optimally,” said Adi.

The power supply for the CGK4 site is planned to be implemented in three phases: Phase I at 2 x 150 MVA, Phase II increasing to 2 x 265 MVA, and reaching a final capacity in Phase III of 2 x 380 MVA. To ensure supply reliability, PLN is also constructing the new 150 kilovolt (kV) Jatiluhur Substation to supply the BDx data centre area. PLN has also prepared two dedicated line bays at the substation to optimally serve the CGK4 site.

Furthermore, Adi explained that the synergy between PLN and BDx Indonesia represents a significant long-term partnership for national economic growth. Beyond the CGK4 site, PLN has also been entrusted to secure power supplies for other major BDx Indonesia facilities, namely the CGK3A site in Cilandak, South Jakarta, and the CGK5 site in the Suryacipta industrial area. “This synergy is more than just the sale of electricity; it is a strategic collaboration to drive national economic growth through investment in high-tech sectors. PLN continues to transform into a reliable partner for all digital investors in the country,” concluded Adi.
