Supporting the ASRI Programme: Gerindra Plants Trees and Cleans Rivers in Jakarta

The Central Leadership Board (DPP) of the Gerindra Party has mobilised its ranks to directly support the ‘Indonesia Aman Sehat Resik Indah’ (ASRI) movement, an initiative launched by President Prabowo Subianto. Gerindra’s efforts include tree planting and the release of fish fry into rivers.

According to a statement from the Gerindra DPP, the activities were led directly by Gerindra Secretary-General Sugiono on Sunday (20/0ability/2026). The programme encompasses tree planting, the release of Nilem fish fry, environmental cleaning, painting, and river patrolling across five regions of Jakarta.

Sugiono was accompanied by several representatives from the Gerindra Faction of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), including Setyoko, Adnan Taufiq, and Rani Mauliani. He noted that the action, which was centred on the banks of the Pesanggrahan River in South Jakarta, serves as a tangible step towards realising the vision of an ‘ASRI’ Indonesia.

According to Sugiono, the ongoing transformation of Indonesia across various sectors must be accompanied by serious attention to environmental sustainability and the quality of public living spaces.

“A short while ago, the President launched an initiative which was then abbreviated as ASRI—Indonesia ASRI. An Indonesia that is safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful,” Sugiono stated before the event began.

He explained that Indonesia has long been known for its natural wealth, fertility, and immense biodiversity. He emphasised that this potential must be preserved to sustain the livelihoods of the population in the long term.

Sugiono highlighted that the first element of the ASRI concept is security. He noted that a safe environment creates comfort and supports the community in working and conducting economic activities.

“Security is a factor that instils confidence in Indonesia. Security is a factor that makes people feel comfortable in Indonesia. Security makes people want to visit Indonesia and makes those of us living here feel at home,” said Sugiono.

“Furthermore, once the situation is secure, various efforts and activities can be undertaken. We can work effectively and strive well if our environment is safe,” he added.

He further noted that the ‘healthy’ aspect is closely linked to meeting the food and nutritional needs of the community and creating a clean environment. Sugiono also emphasised that the term ‘resik’ (clean/tidy) in the Aul concept carries a broader meaning than mere cleanliness.

“‘Resik’ is more than just being clean. It involves neatness and orderliness. When our environment is orderly and well-maintained, it will result in beauty,” he said.

According to Sugiono, a safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful environment can strengthen Indonesia’s appeal on the global stage. He mentioned that during President Prabowo’s various overseas visits, international figures have expressed views on Indonesia’s immense potential as a tourist destination.

“Indonesia is a very attractive tourist destination. It will be even better if we can realise the ASRI concept, thereby increasing Indonesia’s appeal to foreign tourists. They can experience the beauty, cleanliness, and natural splendour of Indonesia itself,” he remarked.

As a follow-up, Sugiono stated that, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Gerindra DPP, he has issued instructions to all party ranks to routinely conduct activities that support the realisation of ‘Indonesia ASRI’.

“As the Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, I have issued a directive from the DPP to all ranks of the Gerindra Party to regularly and periodically undertake efforts and activities that assist in achieving Indonesia ASRI,” he asserted.

Sugiono noted that environmental preservation cannot be the sole responsibility of the government or specific groups. Community involvement is essential, as environmental cleanliness is ultimately a shared responsibility. He also expressed appreciation for the sanitation workers who work to maintain the environment.

“The efforts of our colleagues and brothers must be supported and assisted. Why? Because ultimately, the environment where we live is our own responsibility,” he said.

Sugiono requested that this movement does not remain merely ceremonial. He called on every Gerindra rank in the regions to devise concrete, routine programmes, ranging from waste collection and river cleaning to reforestation.

“I believe there must be detailed weekly programmes to achieve Indonesia ASRI. Whether it is waste collection, river cleaning, tree planting, and so on,” he said.

He added that these activities should have targets and implementation records so that results are visible over time. Sugiono stated that Gerindra has a responsibility to help oversee the programmes implemented by President Prabowo’s administration.

Sugiono expressed hope that these small actions could have a broader impact on society.

“We hope that the small steps we take this morning will bear fruit, resulting in benefits for our environment and, in turn, for the entire community and the Indonesian nation,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Jakarta DPD of the Gerindra Party, Rani Mauliani, stated that the ASRI activities were held simultaneously across five regions of Jakarta—East, North, West, Central, and South—and are planned to become a regular movement moving forward.
