Supporting Smooth Eid Return Travel 2026, OT Group and ASDP Strengthen Service Ecosystem at National Ferry Routes
The government projects approximately 143.9 million population movements during the 2026 Eid return travel period based on a survey by the Ministry of Transportation. This high mobility level underscores the importance of service readiness across all transportation modes, including maritime crossings, to ensure smooth traffic flow, distribution stability, and passenger comfort.
In response to this challenge, OT Group has established a strategic partnership with PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) to strengthen services at four major ports with the highest passenger volumes during peak return travel season: Merak Port, Bakauheni Port, Gilimanuk Port, and Ketapang Port.
Through this collaboration, OT Group ensures the availability of various travel necessity products that are easily accessible to returning passengers, ranging from snacks and ready-to-drink beverages to bottled water and hygiene products. OT Group products such as Tango, Teh Gelas, Crystalin, and Formula are available at port areas, retail outlets, and onboard ferry services.
The surge in mobility during the Eid period is often accompanied by increased consumption needs in transit areas. Therefore, OT Group also ensures these products are available at prices in accordance with the maximum retail price (HET) to maintain price stability and protect consumers’ purchasing power during their journey home.
Donny, CEO of OT Group’s FMCG division, emphasised that this collaboration is not merely a business expansion, but part of the company’s contribution to strengthening the ecosystem of public services.
“The return journey home is Indonesia’s largest social momentum. We view it not only as peak distribution season, but as shared responsibility to ensure the public has access to affordable, authentic, and easily accessible products at critical journey points. During periods of high demand surge, product availability and price stability become extremely important. Through this partnership, we ensure the supply chain runs optimally so that returning passengers need not worry about product availability or potential price increases,” Donny stated on Thursday, 12 March.
This collaboration also marks the strengthening of OT Group’s business development strategy based on the national transportation ecosystem, following previous collaborations in the aviation sector with Garuda Indonesia.
Reinforcing this commitment, the partnership reflects a shift in OT Group’s strategy from mere product distribution to active integration within the national travel ecosystem. With high concentration of passenger movements at major ferry junction points, the company recognises the importance of a more relevant presence at key mobility nodes, particularly during the return journey period, which carries profound social and emotional significance.
“We believe a company should be present not only in daily life, but also during important national moments. The return journey home is a symbol of togetherness and hope. Therefore, OT Group wants to be part of that journey by ensuring access to affordable and trustworthy products remains available at every major mobility point,” Donny concluded.
Meanwhile, Nana Sutisna, Director of Engineering at PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), stated that this collaboration is part of ASDP’s efforts to strengthen the ferry service ecosystem in a more integrated and customer-focused manner, particularly in facing peak mobility periods such as the Eid return travel season.
“We welcome this collaboration as part of efforts to improve service quality for ferry users. Through partnerships with various parties, ASDP continues to strive to provide passengers with more comfortable, safe, and memorable travel experiences,” Nana said.
The collaboration also introduces a more integrated service approach through various activations in passenger terminals and lounges, optimisation of onboard services, and provision of products relevant to long-distance travel needs. The presence of OT Group products at these four major ports is expected to provide easy access for returning passengers to obtain consumption and hygiene necessities during their journey.
Through this synergy, the 2026 return travel movement is expected to proceed smoothly not only from the perspective of transport operations, but also deliver a more assured, comfortable, and affordable travel experience for millions of Indonesians.
