Supporting Religious Facilities Recovery, Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia Launch Al Quran Charity Programme
Dompet Dhuafa and Gramedia have collaborated to launch the Al Quran Charity Programme to support the recovery of worship facilities for communities affected by disasters whilst expanding access to the Quran in areas in need.
Data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of 24 February 2026 recorded that 301,012 homes, 215 health facilities, 4,852 educational facilities, and 813 places of worship have suffered damage.
The destruction of many mosques and prayer halls has resulted in damage to facilities and resources, including Qurans. The Quran plays a crucial role in the worship of Muslim communities, particularly during the month of Ramadhan as at present.
The Al Quran Charity Programme targets the distribution of 30,000 Qurans from donors’ endowments to communities affected by flooding in Sumatra and Aceh, with the aim of eventually reaching all regions across Indonesia.
“Thank you very much for the collaboration with Gramedia. This is an initial step to spread goodwill throughout Indonesia, particularly in disaster-affected areas such as Sumatra and Aceh,” stated a representative in a press release received by Kompas.com on Friday (27 February 2026).
For Gramedia, the collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa represents the company’s commitment to delivering social impact through literacy and spiritual values for communities.
“We also extend our greatest thanks to our customers and the public who have donated and entrusted their Al Quran endowments through Gramedia. This trust becomes a force for good that reaches far and wide throughout the archipelago,” said Rezza Patria Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of Gramedia.
“May Ramadhan this year serve as a catalyst to strengthen worship, including reading the Quran. This spirit must be awakened urgently, especially for survivors affected by disasters,” Rezza emphasised.
