The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, personally inspected the implementation of the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance Programme (BSPS) in Pamoyanan Village, Plered District, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, on Friday (2/10).

Alongside the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, Tito reviewed the condition of houses proposed to receive assistance and engaged in dialogue with residents, including Eti Nurhayati and Amung.

“This is Mr Maruarar Sirait, the Minister of Housing; the President has entrusted him with repairing your house,” Tito remarked during his conversation with Eti Nurhayati.

Eti expressed her gratitude that the house she occupies with her family has received government attention. Based on field verification by the Ministry of PKP, Eti’s house met several criteria for assistance, ranging from fragile roof frames and damaged walls to broken tiles that frequently leak during rain.

The Minister of PKP, Maruarar Sirait, stated that the inspection was conducted to ensure that aid recipients align with the established criteria.

According to him, the condition of the houses and the profiles of potential recipients must be examined to prevent the programme from being misdirected.

“I do not want it to be mistargeted. We must not have good houses, or houses belonging to middle-class or wealthy individuals, being repaired when they are still in good condition. That is why we checked the profiles earlier,” said Maruarar.

After inspecting the residents’ homes, the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of PKP witnessed the Open Shop Selection (PTT) process for the BSPS programme.
