Supporting Prabowo's Programme, PNM Customer Loan Interest Drops to 8%
Jakarta - The Supervisory Board for State-Owned Enterprises (BP BUMN), the Danantara Indonesia Investment Authority (BPI Danantara), and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs have finalised a policy to lower interest rates to 8% for customers of PNM Mekaar. The policy is intended to strengthen access to financing for approximately 14 million Mekaar consumers while supporting the President’s priority programme to bolster the people’s economy.
Head of BP BUMN and Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia, Dony Oskaria, stated that a meeting was also held with the Deputy for Coordination of BUMN Management and Business Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ferry Irawan, to discuss the progress of the policy’s implementation. ‘The discussion covered the acceleration of supporting regulations, the reallocation of the People’s Business Credit (KUR) budget, and the issuance of the Credit Programme Information System (SIKP),’ Dony wrote on his Instagram social media account on Wednesday.
Through this synergy, the government is accelerating policy readiness so that the 8% interest rate scheme can be implemented immediately and provide tangible benefits to millions of PNM Mekaar customers. Previously, the Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), Maman Abdurrahman, said a meeting had been held between Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, and Danantara. The meeting discussed the credit programme for 14 million women who have been under the auspices of the PNM Mekaar (Fostering Family Economic Welfare) programme.
During the meeting, the government decided to accelerate the PNM Mekaar programme. In accordance with the President’s directive, the interest rate would be lowered from an average of 20% to below 10%. ‘That is the direction and order from the President, so that the interest received by the mothers who are members of the Mekaar programme, which numbers around 14 million, is reduced. Their interest was around 20% on average, ranging from 18% to 24%,’ Maman explained. After formulation, the interest rate was decided at 8%. He hopes this will assist pre-prosperous women. ‘The President’s order is that it must be pushed below 10% so as not to burden these mothers who fall into the pre-prosperous category. Alhamdulillah, the formulation, pattern, and mechanism have been found and decided, with the interest rate at around 8%,’ Maman continued. Maman also revealed that the PNM Mekaar programme with an 8% interest rate will be launched in early September. ‘Insyaallah, it will come into effect around the beginning of September,’ he said.
