Mataram (ANTARA) - The Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A) of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), will soon propose increasing public spaces and child play facilities as a step to support PP Tunas.

The Head of DP3A Mataram, H Zuhhad, in Mataram on Tuesday, stated that PP Tunas or Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection is a policy from the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) that blocks or restricts access to online games and social media for children under age.

“With this policy, children under 16 years old will no longer focus on playing gadgets, so they need to be facilitated by us to engage in activities and interact with peers and the surrounding environment,” said Zuhhad.

According to him, providing child public spaces as an alternative solution. Therefore, DP3A will coordinate with various parties to increase educational play spaces and green open spaces in urban areas.

Meanwhile, for supervision, DP3A Mataram will involve various community elements, from parents, religious figures, Child Protection Institutions (LPA), Children’s Council, and Mataram City Children’s Forum, among others.

“We are involving all parties to jointly oversee this programme for the future of our children in Mataram City,” he said.

On the other hand, they fully support the central government’s policy programme regarding restrictions on gadget use, social media, and online games for children under 16 years old.

“If not closely supervised by parents, it can lead to misuse and negative impacts,” he said.

With this policy, he said, children can focus more on their education at school. In addition, it prevents children’s sleep or rest time from being disrupted due to game addiction.

“No less important, with the closure of online games, it can encourage children to focus more when gathering with family and friends without being disturbed by mobile phones,” he said.
