Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to develop green open space (RTH) facilities and regional libraries to enhance positive activities for children. Special Staff to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta for Public Communications, Chico Hakim, stated that this step is one form of support for Government Regulation number 17 of 2025 on the Protection and Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas), which will take effect on 28 March 2026. “We view this regulation as an opportunity to encourage children to engage more in the real world through healthy learning, playing, and socialising,” Chico explained when contacted on Saturday. According to him, the policy also aligns with the DKI Provincial Government’s commitment under the leadership of Governor Pramono Anung to create Jakarta as a child-friendly city. To that end, Chico continued, the DKI Provincial Government will strengthen the development of offline facilities as positive alternatives, including revitalising city parks and green open spaces as safe and inclusive play areas. The addition of sports, arts, and community-based extracurricular activity facilities will also be carried out to increase positive activities for children. “This programme is part of a holistic effort to support child development, where leisure time is filled more with real activities that support creativity, physical health, and social interaction. We invite all parents, teachers, and the community to jointly support the implementation of this (PP Tunas) wisely,” Chico stated.
