Supporting PP Tunas, DKI Provincial Government Develops Offline Facilities and Activities
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has assured that it will continue to develop alternative spaces for children’s activities alongside the enforcement of PP Tunas (Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection) on Saturday (28/3/2026). Special Staff to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Chico Hakim, stated that the policy aligns with the direction of the DKI Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Pramono Anung in realising Jakarta as a child-friendly city. “This policy is in line with the DKI Provincial Government’s commitment to creating a ‘Child-Friendly Jakarta’,” Chico said in an official statement on Saturday. Chico explained that strengthening activities outside of gadgets is carried out through several programmes, such as the revitalisation of city parks and green open spaces as safe and inclusive play areas. Sports facilities, arts, and community-based extracurricular activities are also being prepared as alternatives for children’s activities outside of gadget use. “This programme is part of a holistic effort to support child development, where leisure time is filled more with real activities that support creativity, physical health, and social interaction,” he said. For information, PP Tunas was ratified by President Prabowo Subianto on 28 March 2025 and will take effect on 28 March 2026. Before implementation, the regulation was promulgated on 6 March 2026, providing a transition period of around 22 days before full implementation. In the initial stage, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is targeting several major digital platforms deemed to pose high risks to children. These platforms include YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox. “This process will be carried out gradually until all platforms fulfil their compliance obligations,” said Meutya.
