Supporting National Energy Security, Elnusa Petrofin Strengthens Operations and HSSE

PT Elnusa Petrofin (EPN), a subsidiary of PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA) under Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding, continues to strengthen its operational excellence and Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) culture. This serves as the primary foundation for supporting safe, reliable, and sustainable national energy distribution. Entering its 30th year, the company currently manages operations spread across more than 98 locations throughout Indonesia and supports energy distribution through a network of 51 Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminals. Director of Operations and Marketing at PT Elnusa Petrofin, Ferdiansyah, stated that the company’s 30 years of operational success cannot be separated from its commitment to prioritising safety and operational reliability. ‘For Elnusa Petrofin, operational excellence and HSSE excellence are inseparable. We build systems, processes, and a work culture that ensures every energy distribution runs safely, on time, and reliably to meet the needs of communities across Indonesia,’ Ferdiansyah said. He explained that this operational complexity is supported by continuously strengthened digital transformation. One implementation is the Road Traffic Control (RTC) system, which operates 24 hours a day as a real-time fleet monitoring centre for energy distribution. The RTC is integrated with more than 2,900 GPS devices and over 2,200 fleet CCTV units, enabling the company to monitor vehicle movements, driving behaviour, travel conditions, and overall operational performance through a centrally accessible digital dashboard. As part of its operational risk control efforts, Elnusa Petrofin implements Journey Risk Management across its entire distribution fleet. This system allows for the identification of travel risks from the route planning stage until the vehicle arrives at its destination. Every journey is actively monitored to ensure potential risks can be anticipated early, thereby maintaining the safety of the driver, vehicle, and cargo. The company also implements a Fit to Work programme to ensure that Tanker Crew Members are in a ready condition before carrying out distribution duties. This programme is supported by the use of CCTV technology on the fleet and a monitoring centre that enables real-time supervision of driver conditions as part of efforts to prevent fatigue and human error risks.
