Supporting National Economic Transformation, Gerindra Wing Organisation Discusses Food and Energy Security
Efforts to strengthen food security, energy security, and human resource development are considered vital foundations for driving national economic transformation amidst global uncertainty. These strategic issues will be the focus of the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) scheduled to take place from 12-14 June 2026 in Jakarta.
The General Chairperson of PP Gekira, Nikson Silalahi, stated that the Rakernas serves as a form of support for the government’s economic development agenda. “This Rakernas adopts the theme of economic transformation in the era of President Prabowo’s administration as a tangible form of support from Gekira, as a wing of the Gerindra Party, to support the performance and real work of President Prabowo’s government in achieving public welfare and social justice for all Indonesians,” Nikson said in a written statement on Monday (2/6/202<0xA0>6).
According to him, various economic policies currently implemented by the government are on the right track to strengthen the national economic foundation, including the downstreaming programme which is seen as a driver for Indonesia’s economic independence. “We see that President Prabowo Subianto’s administration is bringing the Indonesian economy in the right direction through the downstreaming programme to ensure national economic independence. This is essential to ensure our economic foundation remains strong and robust amidst global uncertainty. In principle, Gekira supports President Prabowo’s economic and political policy steps to prosper the people,” Nikson added.
The Rakernas will serve as a forum for national consolidation and a space to formulate the organisation’s work programme for the next five years. Issues to be discussed include food security, energy security, industrial downstreaming, the development of MSMEs and cooperatives, and the strengthening of human resource quality. The event, organised by the Central Leadership of the Great Indonesian Christian Movement (Gekira), carries the theme “National Economic Transformation Under the Leadership of President Prabowo Subianto,” with the sub-theme “Accelerating Economic Transformation in the Prabowo Era: Food Security, Energy Independence, Champion Human Resources.”
The Chairperson of the Rakernas Committee, Melki Marcos Suwahari, stated that the agenda is expected to produce programme formulations relevant to national development needs. “Rakernas is a momentum for every Gekira cadre from Branch, Regional, and Central Leadership levels to formulate a national work agenda to be executed over the next five years in support of government policies in the economic sector to achieve public welfare,” said Melki.
He noted that the Rakernas will also feature several national figures and cabinet ministers to provide strategic perspectives to participants. Several ministers are scheduled to speak at the national seminar, including the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, regarding national energy security; the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, regarding eco-friendly housing; and the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, regarding national food security strategies. Additionally, the Minister of MSMEs, Maman Abdurrahman, alongside the Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, will discuss strengthening the people’s economy through MSMEs and cooperatives, while the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, is scheduled to present on the contribution of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in strengthening national economic resilience.
The Rakernas will be opened by the Chairperson of the Advisory Board of PP Gekira, Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, with the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, scheduled to deliver remarks representing President Prabowo Subianto. Internally, the event will be attended by approximately 500 Gekira cadres from various regions across Indonesia, while the opening session and national seminar are expected to draw around 1,000 participants, including cadres, sympathisers, community leaders, and invited guests.
