Supporting MBG, Kadin Presents Protein Supply Ecosystem Strengthening Programme to Agriculture Minister Amran
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has presented a number of key programmes from its Protein Task Force aimed at strengthening the national protein supply ecosystem in support of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
Deputy Chairman for Livestock at Kadin Indonesia and Chairman of the Kadin Protein Task Force, Cecep Muhammad Wahyudin, explained that the first programme involves downstream processing for agricultural and livestock products related to protein. The second is the decentralisation of layer hen farming.
“Third, the development of dairy cattle zones in Indonesia. Fourth, digitalisation of the system from upstream to downstream,” said Cecep in a statement on Friday, 28 August 2026.
He expressed hope that these programmes would build a more integrated protein ecosystem while involving communities and business actors across various regions.
Cecep, together with Deputy Chairman for Agriculture at Kadin Indonesia and Deputy Chair of Internal Cooperation Relations for the Protein Task Force, Devi Erna Rachmawati, presented the programmes during an audience with Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman.
The meeting discussed a number of strategic agendas related to strengthening the national protein supply ecosystem, particularly to meet the needs of the MBG programme.
During the audience, Kadin Indonesia also conveyed several forms of cooperation that could be immediately realised with the Ministry of Agriculture.
One of these relates to utilising the 3 percent allocation of People’s Business Credit (KUR) for agricultural machinery and equipment (Alsintan) for business clusters or ecosystems that support the protein supply chain.
“We are proposing that the 3 percent KUR Alsintan be included for the clusters. Because this will involve the community, it becomes part of one supply chain ecosystem,” said Cecep.
In addition, Kadin Indonesia is pushing for the acceleration of dairy cattle zone development in Indonesia. To support this programme, Kadin hopes the government can provide ease in the importation process as well as access to financing with softer, longer-term credit schemes.
Kadin Indonesia also considers the presence of a guaranteed off-taker to be one of the important factors in building a sustainable protein ecosystem.
Kadin hopes the Ministry of Agriculture can open space for collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as one of the largest off-takers in the MBG ecosystem.
“We want a guaranteed off-taker. We hope the Ministry of Agriculture can open discussions for collaboration with BGN as the largest off-taker today,” he said.
