The Indragiri Hulu (Inhu) Police have launched a ‘Tree Bank’ as a follow-up to the Green Policing programme initiated by Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan. The Tree Bank was launched as a demonstration of the Inhu Police’s commitment to protecting and preserving the environment.

The Tree Bank, located on Jalan Hang Lekir, Kampung Besar Kota Village, Rengat District, Inhu Regency, was launched by Inhu Police Chief Senior Commissioner Eka Ariandy Putra. According to Senior Commissioner Eka, the Tree Bank represents a long-term investment for future generations.

“Environmental challenges today are increasingly complex, ranging from climate change, flooding, and landslides to the reduction of green open spaces. For this reason, the Inhu Police wish to be present not only to maintain public order, but also to play an active role in preserving nature,” said Senior Commissioner Eka in a statement on Monday (16/2/2026).

The Police Chief stated that the philosophy behind the establishment of the Tree Bank carries a concept of simplicity imbued with profound meaning for life. The Tree Bank serves as a vessel for saving hope, producing oxygen, providing coolness, and ensuring ecosystem sustainability.

Through this initiative, the Inhu Police firmly cement their commitment that regional security and environmental preservation are two inseparable sides of the same coin. The Tree Bank is projected not merely to remain a ceremonial symbol, but to grow into a sustainable social movement. Its singular objective: to involve all elements of society in working together to realise a greener, more beautiful, and more sustainable future for Indragiri Hulu Regency.

At the same event, the Police Chief also celebrated the 80th National Press Day. Senior Commissioner Eka emphasised that the media is a strategic partner with a crucial role in maintaining social stability through the delivery of swift, accurate, and balanced information.

“We extend our congratulations on the 80th National Press Day. We hope our colleagues in the press continue to thrive and uphold integrity in every piece of journalism. Beyond that, we place our hope that the media will serve as a channel for educating the public on the urgency of this tree-planting movement, for the sake of our shared environmental preservation,” he concluded.
