Supporting Green Aviation, Pertamina Patra Niaga Expands SAF Services
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is expanding its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) supply services to five strategic locations in Indonesia as part of the company’s commitment to supporting green aviation.
Alimuddin Baso, Corporate Marketing Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the two additional locations that have obtained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) are the Juanda Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) and the Surabaya Integrated Terminal (IT).
“The ISCC certification for these two locations was issued on 8 August 2024 and is valid for one year,” he said.
The five locations that have now obtained ISCC certification are AFT Soekarno-Hatta, AFT Halim Perdanakusuma, AFT Ngurah Rai, AFT Juanda, and IT Surabaya.
According to Alimuddin, expanding the ISCC certification to five locations is a strategic move to broaden access to SAF services while strengthening Pertamina Patra Niaga’s readiness to capture growth opportunities in Indonesia’s sustainable aviation market.
“With a wider certification coverage and supply chain readiness, we are optimistic that we can provide services that are closer to airline needs while supporting the growth of the national SAF ecosystem,” he said.
Alimuddin continued that as they enter the third year of implementation, ISCC certification is part of Pertamina Patra Niaga’s efforts to ensure that SAF management and its sustainability attributes meet aspects of compliance, governance, traceability, and chain of custody in accordance with internationally recognised sustainability standards.
The addition of the Juanda Airport location also opens opportunities to capture voluntary demand from airlines in the Surabaya region and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, IT Surabaya has become the first integrated terminal within Pertamina Patra Niaga to be ISCC certified, thereby expanding the application of sustainability standards to the supply chain beyond aviation fuel terminals.
This strengthening of certification also supports Pertamina Patra Niage’s readiness for the implementation of the Indonesian Government’s SAF mandate starting in 2027, through the reinforcement of operations, infrastructure, and supply chain governance.
“This step is part of Pertamina’s dual growth strategy to develop the biofuel ecosystem and low-carbon business, while simultaneously supporting efforts to achieve Indonesia’s net zero emission target by 2060,” said Alimuddin.
