Danantara Indonesia and Tsingshan Group, through the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation, have donated two solar power plants (PLTS) equipped with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to the people of Sumenep Regency, Madura, East Java.

Danantara Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Rosan Roeslani expressed hope that this donation would expand access to reliable and sustainable electricity for communities whilst supporting the Indonesian government’s vision of energy self-sufficiency.

He also conveyed appreciation for the collaboration between the industrial sector, government, and communities in supporting the development of renewable energy and energy self-sufficiency in Indonesia.

“We offer our thanks and appreciation to the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation, Sumenep Regency Government, and PT PLN (Persero), for the collaboration in realising this pilot project,” Rosan stated on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

“This initiative is aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to accelerate the pace of the national energy transition,” he added.

The initiative was realised through cooperation between the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation, Sumenep Regency Government, and PT PLN (Persero), marked by the signing of an agreement on 13 March 2026 at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta.

Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation Chair Wahyu Budhi Santoso conveyed the commitment of Tsingshan Group and the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation in supporting the Indonesian government’s vision to fulfil and equalise energy access for communities.

“We hope that the donation of two solar power plants, each with a capacity of 1 megawatt peak (MWp) equipped with BESS of 4 megawatt hour (MWh) capacity each, can provide stable electricity supply to communities in two villages in Sumenep Regency, Madura. This effort is also supported through cooperation with PT PLN (Persero),” he stated.

The project will be implemented on Gili Labak Island and Pagerungan Kecil Island, Sumenep Regency, Madura, East Java, and is expected to be able to provide electricity to approximately 2,000 households.

This donation reflects the commitment of Tsingshan Group and the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation in supporting the vision towards national energy self-sufficiency and expanding electricity access for communities throughout Indonesia.
