The IWIP Charity Foundation, part of Yongqing Group under Tsingshan Industrial Holdings, has delivered a donation of an 8 MWh GFM ESS solution to two remote islands in Indonesia to build a stable and reliable electricity system. PT Dogo Teknologi Energi (DoGo) provided the GFM ESS solution. With cutting-edge technology and extensive experience in grid-forming energy storage systems (ESS), DoGo offers a comprehensive solution, including an 8 MWh energy storage system, power conversion system (PCS), and communication and management systems.

DoGo also handles the design process, network simulation, and consulting services to ensure the system forms a stable standalone power grid, addressing operational challenges in island regions not connected to the main electricity grid (off-grid).

According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Indonesia’s electrification ratio has reached over 99% in 2025, yet challenges remain in providing reliable electricity supply in remote and island areas. Indonesia has over 17,000 islands, with thousands of villages still relying on limited electricity systems or lacking 24-hour access.

In August 2025, the Indonesian government set an ambitious target to accelerate the national clean energy transition. The programme includes building 100 GW of solar power plants (PLTS) and 320 GWh of battery storage capacity in 80,000 villages, as well as centralised PLTS to speed up energy infrastructure transformation.

“Grid-connected energy storage solutions offer a scalable development path suitable for remote islands, mining areas, and ‘energy islands’, while improving overall electricity access and providing real solutions to support the achievement of new national energy targets,” said a representative from PT Dogo Teknologi Energi, Pamela Pan, quoted from a press release received on Thursday (19/3).

The IWIP Charity Foundation stated that this donation is an important step in corporate social responsibility and commitment to global energy sustainability.

By implementing the GFM ESS solution on remote islands, the IWIP Charity Foundation aims to improve local community welfare through concrete actions, bridge energy access gaps between regions, and ensure more people can benefit from clean energy development.
