JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU), together with the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT), is strengthening Eid al-Fitr homecoming services for 2026 by providing 189 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) at various rest and service areas (TIP) along several toll road sections. The provision of these SPKLU forms part of efforts to support more environmentally friendly homecoming journeys, particularly for electric vehicle users on main routes such as the Trans-Java Toll Road and the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). “We are ensuring the readiness of national road infrastructure, including toll roads, in a roadworthy condition. However, equally important is the readiness of supporting facilities, such as rest areas which serve as key points for travellers to rest safely and comfortably,” stated Dody on Wednesday (18/3/2026). In Java, 152 SPKLU units are available across 73 TIP, from the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road to the Pandaan-Malang Toll Road. Meanwhile, in Sumatra, there are 37 SPKLU units at 27 TIP, spread from the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road to the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road. In addition to SPKLU, the Ministry of PU is ensuring the readiness of rest areas across all operational toll roads. Currently, there are 136 TIP equipped with facilities such as petrol stations, parking areas, toilets, places of worship, culinary centres, and rest rooms. To anticipate a surge in vehicle volume, 15 functional TIP are also being prepared, which can be operated situationally to ease congestion at existing rest areas. Several TIP that are ready for use include TIP on the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road at KM 37+000 A/B, TIP on the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat at KM 99+800 A/B, and TIP on the Semarang-Solo Toll Road at KM 439+000 A and KM 444+000 B, which have been equipped with additional facilities such as workshops, health posts, lactation rooms, and ATM centres. Starting from TIP on the Palembang-Betung at KM 71+000 A/B with approximately 95 per cent progress, as well as a temporary TIP on the Cipali section at KM 77B utilising the former Cikopo Toll Gate (GT). Through the strengthening of toll road services, optimisation of rest areas, and the increasingly widespread provision of SPKLU, the government hopes that the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming journey can proceed more smoothly, safely, and comfortably, while also promoting more sustainable transportation.
