Supporting Eco-Friendly Public Transport, Bogor Regent Launches Electric Bus
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto launched the electric bus service in the Tegar Beriman Street area, Cibinong, on Sunday, 5 April 2026. The launch of these electric buses is one of the efforts by the Bogor Regency Government to provide environmentally friendly public transportation for the community.
“These electric buses use 100 percent electricity and are 100 percent free for the public during the trial period. This is our initial step to introduce environmentally friendly public transportation in Bogor Regency,” said Regent Rudy.
The presence of these electric buses, he continued, is a concrete step by the Bogor Regency Government in supporting the central government’s programme to save energy and reduce dependence on petroleum fuels.
In the initial phase, the Bogor Regency Government is operating four units of electric buses that are undergoing a trial period. If they receive a positive response from the community, the number of fleets will be increased and operated permanently through the Buy The Service (BTS) scheme with subsidy support from the central and regional governments.
The initial route of the electric bus service connects the Bojonggede area to Sentul City with several strategic stops, including AEON Sentul and the TransJakarta Halt in the Sentul Circuit area. This route was chosen due to the high mobility of the community at Bojonggede Station, which reaches around 50,000 users every day. Many of them are workers commuting to and from Jakarta using the KRL.
Through this electric bus service, passengers alighting at Bojonggede Station are expected no longer to rely on private motorised vehicles to continue their journey to the Sentul area and surroundings. “With the presence of these buses, people alighting at Bojonggede Station no longer need to use private motorised vehicles because the government has prepared onward transportation that is more environmentally friendly.”
The electric bus trial period is planned to last for the next three months. If public enthusiasm is high, the Bogor Regency Government plans to add more fleets and expand the service routes to several other areas.
Meanwhile, the Bogor Regency Government is also studying the development of environmentally friendly tourism transportation in the form of double-decker buses with open roofs, planned to serve routes from Cibinong to the Puncak area. Rudy Susmanto hopes that these various steps can become the beginning of transforming the transportation system in Bogor Regency towards a more modern, efficient, and sustainable mobility concept. “Through environmentally friendly public transportation, we want to provide more comfortable services for the community while preserving air quality in Bogor Regency,” he said.
