Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie, also known as Anin, believes Bank Indonesia’s (BI) move to raise its benchmark interest rate, or BI Rate, is a necessary policy to maintain national economic stability. “We are optimistic we can get through this situation. Signs of improvement are already visible. The interest rate hike by BI is indeed aimed at maintaining stability, and we appreciate this step,” Anin said in a statement on Friday, 19 June 2026. Anin therefore stressed that Kadin is ready to strengthen synergy with BI down to the regional level to support various economic development agendas. With Kadin’s network spread across 514 regencies and cities as well as various business associations, the business community is prepared to contribute to increasing investment, exports, downstream processing, and strengthening MSMEs. Anin added that business actors continue to strive to increase exports to enlarge the trade surplus and add to the foreign exchange supply. Additionally, Kadin is encouraging the inflow of foreign direct investment to strengthen national industrial capacity. “We see that optimism remains. The challenges are indeed great, but the opportunities are also wide open,” Anin said. “With strong synergy between the government, BI, the banking sector, and the business community, Indonesia has sufficient capital to maintain stability while accelerating economic growth.” Previously, BI Governor Perry Warjiyo affirmed BI’s commitment to maintaining economic stability while supporting national growth. BI is certain to deploy all its available policies to safeguard national economic stability and support various priority programmes of President Prabowo. “Our message is simple. First, be optimistic. Second, BI is all out to maintain stability and encourage economic growth. Third, we will continue to strengthen coordination with the government, the Ministry of Finance, and the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK),” Perry said. According to him, BI has always prioritised a pro-business approach, not only towards the financial and banking industry but also towards the real sector. With the support of 46 representative offices spread across Indonesia, BI is ready to strengthen synergy with Kadin down to the regions to drive investment, exports, processing industries, and MSMEs.
