Supporting 13-Year Compulsory Education, Kemendikdasmen: Bunda PAUD as Central Figure

Bunda PAUD is a central figure with a strategic role in supporting the National Quality Early Childhood Education Movement. Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has affirmed that its partnership with the Bunda PAUD working group is not merely symbolic, but plays a central role in supporting 13-year compulsory education while also backing the national quality early childhood education movement. Director of Early Childhood Education at Kemendikdasmen, Kurniawan, stated that Bunda PAUD has a strategic role in supporting these two government programmes, given that early childhood education is the most crucial phase in nation-building. “Bunda PAUD is a central figure with a strategic role in supporting the National Quality Early Childhood Education Movement. The role of Bunda PAUD is not merely symbolic. In this context, Bunda PAUD acts as the main driver in implementing one year of compulsory preschool,” said Kurniawan during a webinar titled Strengthening the Role of Bunda PAUD in Implementing One Year of Compulsory Preschool in Jakarta on Monday. Furthermore, he said that Bunda PAUD plays a role in encouraging community involvement, coordinating across sectors, and ensuring the implementation of holistic and integrative quality early childhood education services (PAUD HI). “Therefore, active support and participation, especially from Bunda PAUD, is highly expected. As the main driver, Bunda PAUD must be able to motivate all stakeholders in realising quality early childhood education for all through community care and empowerment,” he stated. In addition, as a strategic partner with the Directorate of Early Childhood Education at Kemendikdasmen, Bunda PAUD also plays a role in ensuring service readiness, promoting accessibility for all children, and mobilising support from various stakeholders so that every child has the opportunity to receive quality early childhood education services. “With that role, Bunda PAUD is expected to become a driver in accelerating the realisation of quality early childhood education for all,” said Kurniawan.
