Support Whoosh Accessibility: Bandung Station Skybridge Begins Trial Operations Ahead of Lebaran
The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation, through the Class I Railway Technical Office Bandung (BTP Bandung), has commenced trial operations of the Bandung station skybridge to support passenger accessibility for the Whoosh high-speed train, which will utilise feeder trains. The trial is being conducted to prevent passenger congestion ahead of the 2026 Lebaran holiday transport season.
“Previously, feeder train passengers used the same access as long-distance train passengers,” said Endang Setiawan, Head of the Class I Railway Technical Office Bandung, in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday (12 March 2026).
Endang stated that the trial operation aims to streamline passenger flow so that it is not concentrated at a single point. The use of the skybridge is also considered more effective and efficient as the distance for passengers to reach the feeder trains is reduced.
“The trial operation of the Bandung skybridge is a demonstration of DJKA’s support for high-speed train operations and efforts to improve transportation services,” said Endang.
Endang noted that feeder train passenger activities have shifted to the High-Speed Train Feeder Hall on the eastern side of Bandung Station from today onwards. He urged feeder train passengers to adapt to the new boarding and alighting access and waiting areas, and to avoid arriving at the station too close to train departure times.
“This trial operation will provide material for future evaluation, particularly in addressing the 2026 Lebaran transport season, during which passenger occupancy is expected to increase significantly,” said Endang.
