Support for Strengthening Faith Literacy, Sinar Mas Endows Qur'ans Through the Indonesian Mosque Council
To turn waqf into a means of strengthening solidarity and care for fellow Muslims, Sinar Mas, through the Yayasan Muslim Sinar Mas (YMSM), donated 2,000 copies of the Qur’an. ‘This joint move improves the economic, social, and environmental quality of life of the Ummah, and we hope this waqf will help raise the literacy of faith among the people,’ said Saleh Husin, Chairman of YMSM, after symbolic handover by Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), in South Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March 2026. All copies, according to Saleh, who was accompanied by Feri Wibisono, Deputy Chairman of the YMSM Supervisory Council; Gatot Eddy, Deputy Chairman of the YMSM Supervisory Board; Mayerfas, YMSM Director; and Widyo Pramono, YMSM Supervisory Board Member, will be forwarded by DMI to various places of worship in need. Feri Wibisono said the event was also a Ramadan gathering. The foundation has the opportunity to broaden horizons around building the faith of Sinar Mas employees through empowering worship facilities within the work environment. YMSM within Sinar Mas exists as a forum for Islam practiced openly, tolerantly, equally, and lovingly, while outside the foundation it moves to build cooperation with individuals and institutions with similar intentions. Since 2008, with APP Group support, around 1.4 million mushaf have been donated, either through Sinar Mas’s business pillars spread across the archipelago, reaching religious institutions, educational entities, communities, and even the TNI-Polri across the country, including remote frontier areas.
