Man himself must make sure that his environment will be pollution-free. That's why we have the Kyoto Protocol and the Montreal Amendment. The Kyoto Protocol calls for each country to gradually reduce CO2 emissions while the Montreal Amendment calls for, among other things, a gradual cut in the use of Chloro Fluoro Carbons (CFCs).
CO2 is usually emitted by factories and motorized vehicles. Actually we can use high-pressure gas fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to help free our environment of pollution. These two fuels are environmentally friendly and can be used for automobiles and other engines.
The use of CFCs is now banned in advanced countries but Indonesia still allows this use. Actually, Indonesia can replace CFCs with hydrocarbon called Rossy or Petrozon, the products of Pertamina and Hycool.
As global warming is now getting more and more serious, we must pay more attention to this matter. Global warming has caused the ice to melt and sea water surface temperatures to rise. We have around 17,000 islands and must do something to ensure that they will not sink because of the effects of global warming.
