Support for the Likud Party, led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has reportedly plummeted to its lowest recent level. According to a poll published on Friday, the ruling party is predicted to secure only 19 seats if an election were held today.

The survey results, published by the Maariv newspaper, describe the situation as a “historic collapse” for Netanyahu’s party. The 19-seat projection represents the lowest level for Likud since May 2025, occurring approximately six weeks before the general election scheduled for 27 October.

The poll was conducted by Lazar Research, led by Menachem Lazar, in collaboration with the Panel4All research platform. The survey took place on 9-10 September, involving 4,329 respondents with a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

This decline is significant compared to a previous poll released on Monday, which predicted Likud would obtain 21 seats. Maariv noted that this 19-seat figure is the party’s weakest point since 29 May 2025.

In stark contrast to Likud’s fortunes, the Yisrael Beiteinu party, led by former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, remains strong at the top. The survey predicts the party will achieve 25 seats, a stable figure that has not changed from earlier results this week.

This latest data emerges just three days after Israeli political parties officially submitted their candidate lists for the Knesset elections. Based on the current political landscape, Netanyahu’s governing coalition is predicted to secure only 50 seats.

Conversely, the opposition bloc leads with a projected 58 seats, while Arab parties are expected to secure the remaining 12 seats. Notably, a political group requires at least 61 out of the 120 seats in the Knesset to form a legitimate government.

This situation places Netanyahu in a difficult position to maintain power, as the threshold for forming a government remains well beyond the current coalition’s reach.
