Labuan Bajo has increasingly become recognised as one of Indonesia’s most promising investment destinations, particularly following its designation as a national priority tourism area.

The Indonesian government has formally established Labuan Bajo as part of the Super Priority Tourism Destination, which serves as the primary focus of the national tourism sector’s development.

This strategic status places Labuan Bajo on par with other leading destinations that receive substantial attention in infrastructure development and global tourism promotion.

Acting Director General of BPOLBF, Andhy Marpaung, speaking at the Media Collaboration Discussion (Diskoria) in March 2026 on Friday, 6 March 2026 at BPOLBF’s Floratama Meeting Room, stated that tourism development cannot be undertaken in isolation.

“Support and collaboration with various parties, including the media, is crucial in building positive narratives whilst disseminating information about the potential and tourism agenda in Labuan Bajo,” said Andhy.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, developing super priority destinations aims to accelerate regional economic growth through quality tourism.

Since the designation, various infrastructure development projects have been ongoing, ranging from airport expansion, tourism ports, roads, to modern tourism facilities.

The development of Komodo Airport stands as one example of infrastructure investment that has enhanced accessibility for both domestic and international tourists.

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, visitor arrivals to Labuan Bajo continue to show growth trends alongside improved facilities and tourism promotion.

The government is also promoting investment through regulatory ease and policy support from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM to accelerate the development of the tourism zone.

With its super priority national status, sustainable development, and government support, Labuan Bajo possesses stable and highly promising long-term investment prospects.
