Sunter Podomoro Market to Be Revitalised, Stalls Reorganised by Zoning

Perumda Pasar Jaya will revitalise Sunter Podomoro Market in North Jakarta. Beyond updating the building, the revitalisation will also reorganise traders’ kiosks and stalls based on zoning by merchandise type so that visitors can shop more easily.

Perumda Pasar Jaya President Director Agus Himawan explained that kiosks on the ground floor and stalls on the first floor will be arranged according to the category of goods sold. In this way, visitors are expected to find what they need more easily.

“This new concept redesigns the arrangement of kiosks on the ground floor and stalls on the first floor. Perumda Pasar Jaya will implement zoning for merchandise locations grouped by goods category,” Agus said in a statement on Monday (31/8/2026).

According to him, the zoning system is also intended to make visitor circulation flow more orderly. With clearer arrangement, shopping activity is expected to become more comfortable.

Not only the market’s interior, the parking area will also be reorganised. Car and motorcycle parking will be made more integrated with regulated vehicle entry and exit routes.

“Vehicle lane patterns will be arranged in such a way that entry and exit circulation is tidy, free of congestion, and parking capacity becomes more optimal,” he said.

Agus said the initial stage of revitalisation will focus on strengthening the existing building structure. After that, civil and architectural updates will be carried out, including replacing the building facade with a new, more modern concept.

In addition, the building’s mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems will also be modernised. The reorganisation of these systems is carried out to improve safety while minimising the risk of disruption and fire.

“All of the building’s mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems will be updated and replaced. These systems will be reorganised to be neater and centralised, thereby minimising the risk of disruption and fire hazards,” he said.

For information, Sunter Podomoro Market has stood since 1992. The market has been one of the centres of economic activity for local residents for more than three decades.

Sunter Podomoro Market stands on a land area of 9,239 square metres with a building area of 8,141.48 square metres. The market building consists of 2.5 floors.

Through this revitalisation, Sunter Podomoro Market will be transformed into a traditional shopping centre with a more modern concept.
