Sunday: Mobile SIM service available at two Jakarta locations

The Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has opened two mobile driving licence service locations for Jakarta residents wishing to renew their driving licences on Sunday. The mobile SIM service provided by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate is an effort to make it easier for the public to manage one of their driving requirements.

Through the @tmcpoldametro Instagram account, it was announced that the service is open from 07.00 to 12.00 WIB. The locations are as follows: East Jakarta: Jalan Raden Mas Intan, next to McDonald’s, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta. West Jakarta: Jalan Panjang, next to Indomaret, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.

The requirements include a photocopy of a valid ID card, the old physical SIM and a photocopy, proof of a health check, and proof of a psychological test. The mobile SIM service can only renew SIMs that are still valid for certain categories, namely SIM A and SIM C.

This service only handles renewals of SIM A and SIM C licences that are still valid. Holders of SIMs whose validity period has expired must apply for a new SIM at the Daan Mogot SIM service centre in West Jakarta.

The validity period of a SIM is now calculated as five years from the date of issue and no longer adjusted to the holder’s date of birth. This policy ensures that the SIM expiry date is determined based on the time of issue, not the applicant’s date of birth.

For renewal fees, in accordance with Government Regulation Number 76 of 2020 on Types and Tariffs for Non-Tax State Revenue applicable to the National Police, the fee is Rp80,000 for SIM A renewal and Rp75,000 for SIM C renewal.

For information, drivers who cannot present a valid SIM will be subject to sanctions in accordance with Article 288 paragraph 2 of Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport. The maximum sanction that can be imposed is imprisonment for up to one month or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
