The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has opened two mobile SIM service locations for residents wishing to renew the validity period of their driving licences in Jakarta on Sunday.

The mobile SIM service provided by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate is an effort to make it easier for the public to manage or complete one of the requirements for driving.

Through the Instagram account @tmcpoldametro, it was announced that the service is open from 07.00 to 12.00 Western Indonesia Time.

The locations are as follows:

East Jakarta: Jalan Raden Mas Intan, next to McDonald’s, Duren Sawit.

West Jakarta: Jalan Panjang, next to Indomaret, Kebon Jeruk.

The requirements are a photocopy of a valid identity card (KTP), the original physical old driving licence and a photocopy, proof of a health check, and proof of a psychological test.

This mobile SIM car service can only renew driving licences that are still valid for certain categories, namely Class A and Class C licences.

The service only handles renewals of Class A and Class C licences that are still valid, while holders of licences whose validity period has expired must apply for a new licence at the Daan Mogot SIM service centre in West Jakarta.

The validity period of a driving licence is now calculated as five years from the date of issue and no longer follows the holder’s date of birth.

This policy ensures that the expiry date of a driving licence is determined based on the time of issue, not the applicant’s date of birth.

The renewal fee, in accordance with Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020 on the Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue applicable to the Indonesian National Police, is Rp80,000 for a Class A licence renewal and Rp75,000 for a Class C licence renewal.

In addition to these fees, applicants must also pay other additional costs, including a psychological test fee of Rp100,000 and a health test fee of Rp50,000.

For information, motorists who cannot show a valid driving licence will be subject to sanctions in accordance with Article 288 paragraph 2 of Law No. 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport.

The maximum sanction that can be imposed is imprisonment for up to one month or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
