Sunda Strait may be fatal
CILEGON, West Java: The local authorities have issued a warning to people swimming on beaches facing the Sunda Strait after 12 people have been dragged under by strong waves over the past month.
The latest casualties were six holidaymakers from Jakarta who were swimming at Cinangka beach on Sunday, Cilegon Police Chief Lt. Col. Hardy B.W. was quoted by Antara as saying.
Five bodies have been retrieved but one is still missing, he said.
On Sunday, the body of a 25-year-old woman was found floating in Anyer beach. Police still could not identify the woman, whose is now in the Serang General Hospital morgue.
A foreigner nearly fell victim to a similar fate at Cinangka beach last week but he was quickly rescued.(05)
