A team of investigators from the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Sumut) carried out searches at the North Sumatra National Land Agency (BPN) office on Jalan Brigjend Katamso in Medan, and the Medan City National Land Office on Jalan STM in Sutirejo Ward, Medan City, on Thursday (9/4). The searches were conducted to delve deeper into the alleged corruption case involving land acquisition for the construction of the Medan-Binjai toll road sections I, II, and III, spanning 25.441 kilometres, which took place in 2016 with a total budget of Rp1,170,440,000,000. “The searches were carried out based on a Search Warrant from the Corruption Court at the Medan District Court,” stated Rizaldi, Head of Legal Information at Kejati Sumut. He mentioned that at the Sumut BPN office, the investigative team searched the working room of the Head of the Land Acquisition and Development Division, staff rooms, and the archive room related to documentation or archives of land acquisition matters. “Investigators also searched rooms at the Medan City BPN office, conducting examinations of several related documents. The investigative team has collected a number of documents and conducted analyses of documents suspected to be related to the case,” he explained. Rizaldi added that the searches took place from 09:30 WIB until the afternoon. In this case, investigators have not yet named any suspects. “The investigative team is still working in the field to continue searching for and finding supporting evidence needed, which is expected to help complete or perfect the required evidence,” he stated.
