Sumsel United to Appeal Club Licensing Decision
Palembang (ANTARA) - The management of Sumsel United has confirmed that it will appeal the decision made by the I-League regarding the Club Licensing Cycle for 2025/2026, in accordance with national regulations and standards set by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The CEO of PT Cahaya Sumsel Utama (CSU), Erick Yuniman, stated in Palembang on Saturday that the announcement of the results of the Club Licensing Cycle 2025/2026, released by the I-League on Wednesday (May 13th), is still a first-instance decision.
Therefore, they will utilize the appeal phase, which is open until May 22nd, 2026, by completing all the necessary requirements. He emphasized that the club, nicknamed Laskar Juaro, is optimistic about meeting all criteria to obtain ‘granted’ status, allowing them to participate in the Championship competition for the 2026/2027 season without point deductions.
The club also fully supports the Club Licensing Cycle program implemented by the I-League as an effort to improve professionalism and governance of Indonesian football clubs in accordance with national regulations and AFC standards.
“The Club Licensing Cycle program is excellent because it encourages clubs to continuously develop in various aspects and supports improving the quality of Indonesian football competitions in the future,” said Erick.
Previously, the I-League announced the results of the Club Licensing Cycle 2025/2026, with eight clubs receiving ‘granted’ status for ACL 2 licenses: PSM Makassar, Persebaya Surabaya, Borneo FC Samarinda, Persita, Dewa United Banten FC, Persik Kediri, Persib, and Persija.
Meanwhile, eight other clubs received ‘granted with sanctions’ status: Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC, Arema FC, Semen Padang FC, Madura United FC, Bali United FC, Malut United FC, Persis Solo, and Persijap.
From the Championship league, eight teams obtained Super League licenses: three promoted clubs (PSS Sleman, Adhyaksa FC, and Garudayaksa FC), and five clubs that will remain in the second tier next season: Persipura Jayapura, PS Barito Putera, Deltras FC, PSPS Pekanbaru, and PSMS Medan.
The results of the Club Licensing Cycle 2025/2026 are as follows:
ACL 2 License (Granted): PSM Makassar, Dewa United Banten FC, Persebaya Surabaya, Persik Kediri, Borneo FC Samarinda, Persib Bandung, Persita Tangerang, Persija Jakarta.
ACL 2 License (Granted with sanctions): Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC, Arema FC, Semen Padang, Madura United, Bali United, Malut United, Persis Solo, Persijap Jepara.
Super League License (Granted): PSIM Yogyakarta, PSS Sleman, Persipura Jayapura, PS Barito Putera, Deltras FC, Adhyaksa FC, Garudayaksa FC, PSPS Pekanbaru, PSMS Medan.
Championship License (Granted): FC Bekasi City.
