Summoning Investment Minister, Prabowo Receives Report on Kampung Haji Development

President Prabowo Subianto received Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, who also serves as Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 6 August 2026. In his remarks after the meeting, Rosan reported on the results of his visit to Saudi Arabia and discussions regarding strengthening the performance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

“The first programme concerns the development, planning and construction (of Kampung Haji) in the holy land of Mecca. We are currently in the process of selecting the architect and the illustration of what it will look like. The President requested an update, and we have provided it. I have also just returned from Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah, coinciding with cooperation with the Ministry of Investment there,” Rosan stated.

He further explained the President’s directive to simplify the organisational structure of SOEs. Rosan noted that this measure is aimed at reducing bureaucratic layers so that the decision-making process can be accelerated. “His directives also include reducing layers, especially in large SOEs such as Pertamina, PLN, and others, so that decision-making becomes faster, productivity increases, and efficiency is better maintained, as well as in other SOEs,” Rosan added.

“He also requested an update on the progress of downstreaming that is currently underway,” Rosan concluded. This reflects President Prabowo’s commitment to ensuring that strategic national programmes move forward swiftly, from improving services for Indonesian pilgrims and reforming SOE governance to accelerating downstreaming as a foundation for strengthening the national economy.
