President Prabowo Subianto summoned several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet to discuss the acceleration of the Waste-to-Energy (WTE) project for processing waste into energy. The meeting took place at Prabowo’s residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

This was conveyed by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia via a post on his personal Instagram account.

Several ministers attended the meeting, including Investment and Downstreaming Minister/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

Also present were Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister as well as Head of the Mineral Industry Agency Brian Yuliarto, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and President’s Personal Secretary Rizki Irmansyah.

Bahlil explained that the meeting discussed the progress of the Waste-to-Energy (WTE) programme as a solution for waste management while supporting national energy resilience.

“We discussed the progress of the Waste-to-Energy (WTE) programme as a solution for managing waste into energy and strengthening national energy resilience,” Bahlil wrote, quoted from his personal Instagram account, on Thursday (26/3/2026).

He added that Prabowo directed the government to act quickly in cleaning and managing waste so it can be utilised as a productive energy source, especially for the community.

“The President directed the government to move quickly in cleaning and managing waste into a productive energy source for the community,” Bahlil added.
