Summoned by Dasco, TikTok Denies Mass Layoffs at Tokopedia: Only Workforce Restructuring

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad summoned Manpower Minister Yassierli and TikTok Indonesia President Director Stephanie Susilo. The meeting was held in response to the issue of mass layoffs occurring at Tokopedia, the e-commerce company acquired by TikTok. “Today I facilitated a meeting, we invited representatives from TikTok in China and TikTok Indonesia, which acquired Tokopedia,” Dasco said during a press conference at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Monday, 6 July 2026. Meanwhile, Stephanie denied that her company was conducting mass layoffs. “There are several points we would like to convey. The first is that there are no layoffs at TikTok or the Tokopedia Group,” Stephanie stated. She explained that management was only carrying out workforce restructuring, both at TikTok and Tokopedia. “What is happening is workforce restructuring that we are undertaking and internal mobility within the TikTok or Tokopedia Group,” she said. However, Stephanie noted that some employees chose to leave by taking a compensation package and working at other companies. “In this restructuring programme, there are indeed those who have chosen to take the compensation package and opted to work elsewhere or be channelled within the TikTok Tokopedia business group environment,” she concluded.
